A PECHA KUCHA / RAFF DESIGNUKE SPECIAL EDITION

A night for Creatives to share their killed ideas, miserable failures and industry horror stories...

Good design, good thinking and inparticular, Good Design Thinking is a worthy pursuit. Raff Designuke celebrates with some of the best of design thinkers from Norway and around the world; striving to inspire and encourage a better world; a better way of living for us all.

But of course striving for greatness is not without its own perils.

Pecha Kucha vol.4 shares and celebrates the darker side to creativity; the rejection, the failure; the great highs and lows from great thinkers; the truth behind the branded veneer.

20 slides, 20 seconds to share with their design demons and exorcise their minds. Accompanied by live music and awesomeness.

Lost in translation

BY SANNE PLOMP
@ VOL 4 ON OCT 23, 2015

When working with lots of international clients you get lots of misunderstandings and miscommunications. Sometimes because of the language difference, sometimes because they just work in a very different way or are have different views on things. This often leads to frustrations, hilarious situations and lots of emailing. Sanne Plomp remarks on the fact that for that reason, it's never boring.

The Neglected Basics

BY ANETTE AGA
@ VOL 4 ON OCT 23, 2015

“Maybe it was the school, maybe it was the programs, the teachers, the increasing descent into despair– which often happens in art school– but I did not feel i was being taken seriously. Every time I steered towards comics, I felt that I was being pulled over by the art police and fined for indecency.”

In The Neglected Basics from PechaKucha Night Bergen’s 4th Volume, Visual Communication student Anette Aga addresses the lack of focus on art in academia. This is a great problem for those who would go through academia to become a designer or illustrator. Comics, in particular, being so important to so many cultures, are unduly ignored.
