Indonesia adalah negara di mana musik mengakar dengan kuat dan sudah terbukti lewat talenta musik yang berlimpah. Selain membangun fondasi seni dan budaya, Indonesia memiliki potensi pasar yang besar untuk industri musik, tidak hanya di pasar lokal namun hingga ke tingkat regional. Kemelut ekosistem industri musik Indonesia serta pesatnya perkembangan teknologi yang mengubah wajah industri musik secara global tidak mematahkan semangat roda pergerakan musik lokal untuk terus bergulir. Hal ini terbukti dengan lahirnya berbagai inisiatif, kontribusi dan kreativitas yang mengekspresikan kecintaan terhadap musik, baik yang dilakukan secara individu maupun kolektif.

Edisi khusus musik di Pecha Kucha Night Jakarta kali ini akan menampilkan semangat para penggiat musik dari berbagai perspektif baik itu dari pelaku seni, pengamat industri, edukator, serta unsur pendukung seperti manajemen, label, radio, hingga penggemar; yang diharapkan akan menginspirasi masyarakat untuk membangun interaksi dan turut berkontribusi dalam memajukan industri musik lokal.

Collective Movement of Indonesian Netlabels

Anitha Silvia explains in depth that, Indonesian Netlabel Union is a collective movement of the Indonesian netlabels for introducing the existence of free legal music from Indonesia into a wider range; offline and online. The first step begins with a series of compilation albums released simultaneously on January 1st, 2011 with five active netlabels. They held workshops for raising awareness on this movement and also Indonesia Netaudio Festival event.

Through his presentation he shares his experience and journey alongside Bottlesmoker, the electro pop musician duo who gained recognition across Asia and Europe. He emphasized the importance of networking on local and global scale and actively involved in government initiative, especially music-related.

As a vocal coach, Indra Aziz believes that singing is the purest form of music, because the vocal chords are one of a kind musical instrument. Singing can be trained, and it should involved 'muscle' and 'heart'. His passion in singing lead him to spread his coaching through social media, particularly Twitter and YouTube, and reach even more disciples, ranging from upscale celebrities to janitor.

AkustikAsik - Everybody Deserves a Stage

Dwika Putra is everyday salary-man who founded AkustikAsik community to express his love for music. He chose 'acoustic performance' concept for its simplicity, and he believes that this community could be the platform for musicians to display their passion and skills. 'Everybody deserves a stage', he said. Music industry is indeed harsh and Dwika shares his experiences going through phases as gig-goers.

D.I.Y Music Hero

As a rapper, Muhammad Amrullah or mostly known as KOJEK, feels concerned that children nowadays has no age-appropriate music to sing along to. This is what motivates him to initiate 'Si Kecil Untuk Bangsa Yang Besar' (SKUBYB) project, where he teaches underpriviledged children to create their own music through freestyle rap. His dream is to encourage and produced more songs for children all across the nation, so that children can also found their confidence throughout music.

Harmony through Sound Design

Iman Fattah has been in the Indonesia's rock and experimental music world since approximately 15 years ago, as a guitarist in his own band; Zeke and the Popo and RAKSASA. Growing up, he never though music will be one of his greatest passion. In PechaKucha, Iman take us as he strips down music into one single element: sound. As an aspiring sound designer, he learned how to synchronize sound with visuals through film scoring project. 'Music' is not necessarily comes in 'band' form, instead, simple toe-tapping in dance rhythm is also music. The challenge in 'designing' sound is how far can we shape them, not only by hearing but also listening. Listen means paying more attention, so eventually we can create our own harmony.
