The sixth event of Creative Quarter's Pecha Kucha Nottingham project is on Friday 19th September, 4-6pm, at Nottingham Hackspace, Roden House Business Centre, Alfred St. South, Nottingham NG3 1JH


The theme for this event will be Stuff – art, science, design, technology, hacking. The Confirmed speakers are: 

* Gareth Roberts – of Studio Seventeen digital design company

* Adrian Hazard – Hackspace members also working with the Mixed Reality Lab at the University of Nottingham

* Matt Little – Hackspace member working on Open Source Charge Regulator (tech for dev world)

* Raquel Ferreira – of Boots the Chemist

* Stephen Whalley – of Nottingham Trent University’s Creative Short Course programme

* Hazel Savage – Hackspace member and digital designer

* JamCafe Bradley – manager of JamCafe

* Jim Shorthose – philosopher (of hacking)

The Carolan Guitar

Adrian Hazard from the University of Nottingham Mixed Reality Lab tells the story about The Carolan Guitar Project: a guitar that is able to capture and re-tell it's own story through the use of a new technology - Aestheticodes. Functioning smartly to CQ codes, Aestheticodes are different as they can be designed to be beautiful

Hazel Savage is a Nottingham-based digital designer, who builds various games, physical games, silly games and silly physical games. You can play the games mentioned in her presentation here. Hazel is also a part of GameCity - The world’s friendliest videogame festival.

Demystifying Science

"Why is the sky blue?" - Raquel Ferreira talks us through her journey to becoming a scientist after a childhood of curiosity and inquisitiveness sparked her imagination.

Raquel currently works in the research and development department for Boots developing anti-ageing products, and has started getting involved with Boots Science Apprentices as she belives the children are the future.
