Lauren Shapiro is an artist and academic whose primary interest is in how art effects individual, interpersonal, and social change. Applying literary theory to the study of lifespan development, she explores how metaphors spoken between lovers predict the course of romantic relationships.

Basketball: Love, Life and Knee Braces

Barbara McKenna is a writer, communicator, and photographer. A few years ago she accepted the fact that she will never dunk a basketball. Having faced that reality she took to shooting from the sidelines and having strong opinions about the game. She's been watching, playing, arguing about, and documenting basketball for more than a decade and still thinks it's the most incredible phenomenon on the planet.

Moved by the ongoing wars, conflicts, and natural disasters that our world has faced, Paul House demonstrates his use of peace signs in the sand to symbolize a different method to show discontent with society. Listen as he describes his sand artwork as a means to encourage people to use peace and love as solutions to the world's issues.

He designs and manages programs to increase the skills and confidence of Latinos/as to pursue careers in technology, increase parent engagement, community and coalition building. In this talk, Jacob talks about the inspiration behind his work and joy of being a father to his adopted children.

Copy Copy, Cat Cat

Ian Everard is a copycat. He paints photorealistic copies of photos. In effect, he uses painting to hold up a mirror to the photograph. Listen to his poetry sequence as he shows the relationship between original and copied works.
