Shake off your winter blues because it’s time for the Shanghai Pecha Kucha #21, the exciting and fast paced event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. After a successful edition of Pecha Kucha at the tail end of 2012, DDWS is stepping into 2013 with a whole new lineup of movers, shakers, and innovators. April 11th, at our office building’s 5th floor venue warehouse.

The World's Best City When It's Smoggy

Jesper Larsson applies his previous ideas for turning Gothenburg into the best city on Earth when it rains to Shanghai, asking how to turn the city’s smog problem into a benefit. He looks at using lasers and UV lights to put a unique spin on everything from tai chi to punk rock, and suggests that using plants and urban gardening could turn parts of the city into clean air havens.

The Pottery Workshop

"Our cornerstone workshop is located in a place called Jingdezhen, which is known as the place where porcelain was invented during the Song Dynasty."

In "The Pottery Workshop" from PechaKucha Night Shanghai Vol. 21, Dryden Wells talks about The Pottery Workshop -- a ceramics-making community and business located in Jingdezhen. Dryden goes over the history of the work space, and the vast array of programs it runs. The studio offers a variety of ceramics classes, and regularly hosts arts events for the local populace.
