PechaKucha Presentation

Education As An Inspiration

PRESENTED ON SEP 29, 2016
IN YORK @ VOL 11

"Children - they are quite powerful young things. They run away, and could quite happily run the world today."

In "Education As An Inspiration" from PechaKucha Night York Vol. 11Marco Polledri and his daughter regularly get fired up about education! Marco because he couldn't wait to get away from it, and for Celestine because she's right in the middle of it. Both of them have come to realise that education doesn't need to be painful, it can be inspirational but it must be engaging. They discuss realising that education can be something that you share as a family, from the highs to the lows. They believe it's something we all need to be involved in, and share their thoughts on how to do it.

BY GREGORY KING
@ VOL 28 ON DEC 11, 2018

When you grow up bouncing from family-to-family, become homeless at 16, and all but drop out of high school, you're not expected to find success, let alone research and help craft education policies. Yet, Greg's had people who have picked him up, pushed him forward, and carried him along. He's traveled across the world working his way through school and learning how to help teachers know their students, students know themselves, and education systems serve everyone. His story shares how simple actions change trajectories and how we don't have to change millions of lives at once to change our world.
