Ana Arenova’s presentation really all made us very hungry and thinking about our next food adventure! She briefly introduced us to her home country’s delicacies and then shared with us the inspirations and challenges which have led to the creation of the Vientiane Foodies Group. With her, we discover some of the group best food voyage in Vientiane from Pakistani cuisine to North Korean or South Indian cuisine and many many more choices to tempt our taste buds.  Ana and her foodies group can definitely help us find our way in the city’s proliferation of restaurants and cafes without going bananas!

A Cleaner, Greener Vientiane

Serge Doussantousse considers himself a French citizen of the world. In 2010 he started investigating local rubbish collections and causes of pollution by following the trucks that collected his household waste in Vientiane. Since then his project Green Vientiane has led several cleaning, greening and recycling-reusing initiatives across Vientiane.

In Laos, Coffee and The Little House from PechaKucha Night Vientiane - Vol. 2Yoko Matsushima, who has lived in Laos for 16 years and is the owner of The Little House café in Ban Simuang, Vientiane, talks about her work as a cafe owner, the relationships she has built with the farmers who produce the coffee beans, her staff who keep the cafe going, and her customers. She hopes for a future where people can continue to drink good Lao coffee.

Anna-Maria is an architect-turned-tea-lover who started travelling Laos’ tea growing provinces with her husband and their two motorbikes, in search of open-minded producers and the tastiest leaves the magnificent landscapes have to offer.
