Some Trucs's Tomoe Matsuoka and Doug Johnston crossed paths at the Cranbrook Academy of Art, and have since collaborated in New York while both examining the boundaries of architecture, product design, and art. Their focus has since been one of small-yet-essential everyday wearable objects.

Serving also as professor in the Department of Scenography, Display, and Fashion Design at Musashino Art University, his scholarly understanding of design, art and architecture sets him apart from most.
