DADA

PRESENTED ON JUN 29, 2016
IN TOKYO @ VOL 137

"The story [we're] telling you tonight is about the first global art movement which started right here, 100 years ago, in the old town of Zurich, in a place called 'The Cabaret Voltaire.'"

Just over 100 years ago, the Dadaists used poetry, prose, parody, and provocation to confront and question the WWI society that brought so much destruction. This "nonsensical" art movement was perhaps the most decisive single influence on the development of twentieth-century art, and its innovations are a continuing source of inspiration to artists today -- Hear from Swiss Embassy Public Affairs head Miguel Perez-LaPlante and curator Yukiko Shikata speak on this radical movement in DADA from PechaKucha Night Tokyo Vol 137.

This was "PechaKucha of the Day" on Wednesday July 13th, 2016.

What Actually Is Radical Cinema?

BY DUNCAN REEKIE
@ VOL 8 ON OCT 26, 2017

Filmmaker Duncan Reekie takes look at multiple strategies that make up Radical Cinema, from agit-prop to cybertopia. He describes it as "a kind of strange interlocking mesh of different factions and cultures, and some of them would deny other factions that they're radical, and some of them don't even know about some of the other factions."

Dada Li - Aquatic Human

BY PECHAKUCHA NIGHT SHENZHEN
@ VOL 36 ON APR 21, 2018

She participated PechaKucha 3 years ago with crutches due to a car accident. Now she has broken the cocoon into a butterfly, becoming the most beautiful mermaid in the sea. It is the best life experience ever, isn't it?
