Luxury Logico

in Taipei

The Sound of Blooming: Outdoor Art Installation by Space frames and Multi-motor Units

Based on the concept of “hybrid,” LuxuryLogico is created by four contemporary artists born in the 1980s: Chih-chien Chen, Kun-ying Lin, Keng-hau Chang, Geng-hwa Chang, known by their lighthearted style that centers on the idea of “DELIGHTFUL WEIRD-LAND.” Inspired by natural environment, tackling thoughts and ideas that filled the spectacles of contemporary society, integrating modern technology and cultivation of humanities, representing their ideas via “music,” “visuality,” “installation,” and “text,” their works of fantasies manifest in various forms and genres, including drama, movies, dance, architecture, pop music and economic behavior. Given force by the unceasing integration, LuxuryLogico comes into being.

Being of Sound Mind

@ VOL 2 ON SEP 04, 2012

In Paula Alasad Asbell's presentation, "sound mind" is not a reference to a psychological state, but refers instead to the source of the inspiration for her art: her favorite music and musicians. (in English)

@ VOL 13 ON NOV 07, 2014

Martin Lutz makes things with sounds and sound out of things. makes this to music. sometimes. declares the ambience to music. makes music to a part of the ambience. this is the music. and this music is the sound.

Martin Lutz studied musicology at LMU Munich and SoundStudies at UdK Berlin. He works as a composer, musician and sound artist for dance, performances, theatre, installations and film. The focus of his work is the examination with sound and its relevance for and texture in the space. Field recordings and experimental sound production are the basis for compositions, that take sounds and soundscapes out of their natural context to give them a new content-related and spatial sense.

Martin Lutz has been invited to work out and realise the sound concept and a music score for the new dance production "Bhinna Vinyasa – Multiple Assemblages" commissioned by the Kochi-Muziris Biennale from the Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, for the 2014 edition.

Two years ago he worked with Attakkalari on the performance "AadhaaraChakra - A Dancelogue“, which performed in India and Europe. The idea was to research contemporary Indian urban sound environments, to make field recordings of them and to create with this audio-material (in collaboration with the Austrian sound artist Sam Auinger) sound compositions that could be termed as somewhere between music and soundscapes. For this project they also worked together with Indian musicians to mix parts of the soundscapes with elements of Indian classical and folk music.

The requirements for the new performance will be similar. Basis for the artistic process will be the examination of site-specific Indian urban developments, social and cultural transformations of individuals and societies. The task will be to find a sonic language that characterises typical urban Indian milieus and their inner dynamics. He will work with Indian percussion musicians from Bangalore and also with video and light artists from Europe to find a performative path between (sound)installation, performance and music for contemporary Indian dance.

Tensión y Precariedad

@ VOL 12 ON APR 16, 2015

Santiago Reyes Villaveces showcases his work, which, according to his own words, "responds to an inquiry, obsession, fascination, and pleasure for the structures, assemblages and dynamics that evidence the state of transitivity and precariousness that appeal to a state of temporal indetermination. The works —installations, sculpture, drawings and photographs— transform, determine, modify and interfere the space in which they operate; affect the way the spectator occupies and perceive the physical and social space where is the work".

Ayman Hassan, co-founder of Studio zumra and Rachel Dedman, curator in Beirut, will unveil the story of ‘Halcyon’, an exhibition part of the Transart Triennale 2016. Halcyon is driven solely by video and text-based work and its design is born of the collaboration between Studio Zumra and Rachel. The project experiments with the installation of long-form writing in exhibition, creating a space in which an audience might spend extended time watching, reading and listening.

Emily! Don't Do That!

@ VOL 11 ON SEP 06, 2018

"I use sound to express things that cause me frustration and joy. I find it cathartic and I find it so much fun. It makes frustrating things tolerable and fun things magical. For me, sound captures experience, truth, and memory in a way that no other sense can."

Despite the seemingly obstructive title, Emily Peasgood shows she is a risk-taking creative who throws caution to the wind (sometimes literally), experimenting with sound and social encounters, her work is original, thought-provoking and uplifting.
