SFU’s Surrey campus is a vibrant community hub located in the heart of one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities. Vol. 5 PechaKucha night showcases some of the great initiatives of SFU students involved with the Surrey community. Providing opportunities for students to engage with the local community and experience meaningful and mutually beneficial connections and collaborations is an important part of the work at SFU Surrey - TD CEC and SFU wide. SFU Surrey – TD CEC is located at the new City Centre Library and has a mandate to foster connections between SFU and the ethnically diverse and growing South Fraser community through a range of programs, workshops, community partnerships, student volunteerism, outreach and more.
Local favourites Swamp City (www.swampcity.ca), fronted by Randy Schultz, Kat Wahamaa and Tony Rees, jump start the evening from 6:30-7pm with their homegrown high energy roots and blues. The quick-step student presentations begin at 7pm.
