A disagreement with her teenage son about if 'Prolly' was actually a word is what brings Julee Laurent to this edition of PechaKucha. The rise of cell phone texting as communication, shorter attention spans in society, and a general disinterest in many youth to pursue language drove Julee and her partner Dennis Anderson to find a new way to instill lessons in language, disguised as a fun adventure. Through their new children's book, 'Lola and Lazlo: Into the Woods' they hope to introduce a love of words and original artwork to a new generation
Julee has been published in Gannett Press Newpapers, Redbook, Marie Claire, Village Voice Media, Tribune News Papers, DiG Magazine, Censored Magazine, InReview and was a copywriter for Diesel Clothing and Coca-Cola. Her band ‘Michigan City Vandals’ has toured the country while having their music featured on shows for HBO and the film ‘CBGB’ in 2014.
