This is a nonprofit event.

What to expect:

Come to the Silver Spring Civic Building on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 7-9:30PM. Spend the first ~20 minutes chatting with some friends, digging tunes, and enjoying beer, wine and light snacks. Around 7:20PM, we'll have the first half of presenters. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll be full of awe. Intermission. We encourage you to discuss ideas that you heard or considered through the first half. Maybe discuss it with a stranger. Time for Action on Climate Change

@ VOL 16 ON APR 12, 2019

Time is running out for effective action on climate change!  In a brief (geologically speaking) period of time, humans have managed to rapidly change the earth’s temperature.  We have another 12 years before the damage is so extensive it will be impossible to reverse over our lifetime or that of the next generation. Carbon pricing is an effective first step on climate change, and as citizens it is an effective use of our time to advocate for it.

How much is your time worth?

@ VOL 16 ON APR 12, 2019

Do you think about how much your time is worth? Is it worth more or less than other people’s time? There is a saying that “time is money,” but it’s not that simple. Let’s think about how “time” is sometimes “different amounts of money” for different groups of people, and whether or not that needs to change.

A Myth in the Making

"What's gonna be the myth from our generation? Whats gonna be our legacy? I really hope it's not Game of Thrones, cuz that'll be weird, but only time can tell."
In "
A Myth in the Making" from PechaKucha Night Silver Springs Vol. 7Pete Tantisunthorn describes that we typically look at myths from a historical perspective but myths, however, are being made everyday. He takes a look at myths we may be making for future generations in our current media, specifically in comic books.
