Featured Presentation

Oliver Kellow + Lee Yang Yang speaking about there art installation built with Jacqui Britto as the Joy Artists Collective.

When Are You? is a fusion of the concrete and the ephemeral. Spatial elements consisting of opaque and mirrored panels suspended in serial progression. This arrangement affords fleeting glimpses of the destination, drawing the participant through the work.  As the final destination is approached it becomes clear that the flat image glimpsed at the outset is actually a parallax-distorted digital mirror. Projected on two angled screens, the image becomes warped and stretched as the viewer advances. Constantly dislocating from the regular passage of time, this fluctuating mirror asks the participant to reflect on their experience as the distorted reflection stares back at them.

Overhouse Project

@ VOL 24 ON MAY 16, 2019

MARK PARFITT - Lecturer, Curtin University in Perth Australia

Overhouse is an event that uses the home as a site for sculpture. Combining DIY construction, audience participation and the artist’s own house, this once-only show seeks to create shared stories and activities in the context of humorous building projects. Get ready to see neighbours go to new suburban heights! Overhouse aims to go beyond expectations of homemaking and ordinary living in the suburb of Carlisle.

Mark Parfitt's practice draws from sculpture as a process and how it relates to situated experiences within the everyday. Coming from the position of art as action, Parfitt produces autobiographical and participatory work in the form of documentation, performance and sculpture. Since 2004, he has exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions, featured in several institutional and private collections and has attracted the funding of numerous grants, residencies and prizes. Mark is the course coordinator for Fine Art at Curtin University, a member of the National Association for Visual Artists (NAVA), Artsource (Artists' Foundation of Western Australia) and a consultant for the City of South Perth Arts Advisory Committee.

FUNK Cider opened its doors in 2016, offering unique and deliciously natural products which have since converted many new followers to the wonderful world of cider! Brothers, Dustin and Martin Michael, broke the norm by creating unpasteurised ciders that don’t contain preservatives or sulphites; essentially creating a living product. The cidery stemmed from their original business, Michael Brothers Cold Pressed Juice Company, and is driven by their original philosophy of creating only the most wholesome of products.
