Porn Nails

”I created Porn Nails as an interactive installation and performance using miami kitsch aesthetics and the flamboyance of the Miami chonga”

In Porn Nails from PechaKucha Night Miami’s 31st volume, speaker Rosemarie Romero presents a project near and dear to her heart. Rosemarie created Porn Nails as a unique performative art piece which embodies the Miami aesthetic, feminism, female drag, excess, and sisterhood.  She bonds with women while doing their nails at the same time listening to pop music, talking about sex and sharing dirty jokes.

This was "PechaKucha of the Day" on Thursday, March 31st.

Inflatable Art

Alejandro Mendoza, a Miami-based artist with a passion for public art, talks about his inspiration for Giants in the City, a collection of 57 inflateable outdoor sculptures.  Alejandro launched his project in Mexico and has exhibited all over the world.

Glass and Ceramics Come to Life

Louise Irvine, Executive Director of the Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts (WMODA), talks about the new museum in the heart of Dania Beach, Florida. The museum's Staffordshire collection includes Wedgwood, Royal Doulton, Moorcroft and tells the artisan's stories of George Tinworth, Daisy Makeig-Jones and the Martin Brothers who brought the British ceramics to life.  Dale Chihuly and Ardmore Ceramic Art are also well represented at the musuem.
