PKN Tokyo Vol. 96 Presentations Today's presentations were all part of our special Tokyo Designers Week 2012 edition of PKN Tokyo (Vol. 96), held at Meiji-Jingu Gaien this past Wednesday, inside the TDW Dome. Known for his award-winning art direction and branding projects, Taku Satoh is the founder of Taku Satoh Design Office, and has been wowing design lovers with his innovative and often mesmerizing visual sense. In his presentation (in Japanese), he also talks about the new "Design Museum Japan" initiative. Architect and designer Eero Koivisto is co-founder of Claesson Koivisto Rune in Stockholm, a studio that started in architecture, but quickly made its mark as a multi-disciplinary company. Here, he talks about a passon of his: the Delorean. Heineken's design director Mark van Iterson shares his vision for design, and invites everyone to help shape the future of Heineken's bottle design, as part of the company's "Remix Our Future" competition. PKN Bucharest Vol. 10 Posters Today's addition to the Tumblr blog is the poster for PKN Bucharest Vol. 10 (pictured above), that was held last night -- you'll find the full list of presenters with links on the official event pagePKN Buenos Aires Vol. 27 PKN Buenos Aires Vol. 27 Photos PKN Buenos Aires Vol. 27 was held this past Tuesday, and here's a great gallery of photos from the event, to give you a taste of the night that was. Above, a panoramic shot of the crowd and stage, and kicking off the event by showing the poster imagePresentations The weekend starts tonight (November 2) with these four events: PKN New Plymouth Vol. 6, PKN Plzen Vol. 3, PKN Loviisa Vol. 6, and PKN Sarajevo Vol. 3. PKN Tokyo Vol. 92 Presentations Here's how Nick Bruscia describes his presentation, "Marking the City," from last week's PKN Tokyo Vol. 92:

An impromptu and ad-libbed Tokyo fiction deriving meaning from a mundane observation -- street annotations and mysterious tags, both written and physically placed. It is imagined that these tags embed another layer of information into the city by casting invisible perimeters within which encoded experiences are left behind and felt by others through ubiquitous mobile / augmented-reality devices. Tokyo is remapped through visual and physical sensations that overlap, fade away, and are activated by the weather or proximity, and offer an ephemerality akin to Tokyo's ever changing urban fabric.

Our second presentation of the day is quite a different one. "Be kind to your elders" is a phrase we hear time and time again, and in "Building Bridges" (in Portuguese, from PKN Curitiba Vol. 1), Roseli Bassi talks about a project that has the goal of encouraging better interaction between young people and the elderly. PKN Toronto Vol. 16 Posters The new posters on our Tumblr blog today are for PKN Guimaraes Vol. 2, PKN Bucharest Vol. 9, PKN Moncton Vol. 5 (which happens tomorrow night), and PKN Toronto Vol. 16 (pictured above).  PKN Guimaraes Vol. 2 PKN Guimaraes Vol. 2 Photos and videos Today we take some time to share plenty of Guimaraes content, for the city's recent Vol. 2. As we just mentioned, the poster for the event was added to our Tumblr blog, and you'll also find two photo galleries, one with photos taken by Joao Octavio Peixoto (two of them are pictured above), and one by Luis Coelho and Joao Abreu [Facebook]. We already shared with you the promo video for the event (and we loved it so much we played it last week's PKN here in Tokyo), as well as the teaser, but here's also an intro for the presenters. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYd-HDj8roA And here's a lovely outdoor billboard ad for the event: PKN Guimaraes Vol. 2 Links A couple of event reports from around the web.

Flyer for PKN Bucharest Vol. 7

Flyer for PKN Bucharest Vol. 7 We just shared some photos from last month's PechaKucha Night in Bucharest Vol. 7, and here's a look at the front side of the flyer that was produced for the event. The design is by Horia Marinescu. Below, an alternate image. PKN Bucharest Vol. 7
As part of Bucharest's PechaKucha Night Vol. 7 (see photos here), organizers handed out a simple questionnaire to attendees, to get some feedback on the event and format. Here are some of the key words and thoughts that came out of it:
The presentation itself with images, the joy and curiosity of people around me, everything by now, the freedom of expression, the creativity, the social network, the innovative concept and diversity of subjects, interesting presenters and beautiful ideas, atmosphere and place, concision, the idea, presenters' and participants’ spirit and attitude, the format and the moderator, the original subjects, the fact that no one can monopolize the microphone, originality, freedom, the different way of interaction between people, free style, short presentation and super atmosphere, diversity, the format, you cannot get bored by presentations, informal atmosphere and presentations, the golden rule: 20x20.
PKN Bucharest Vol. 7 Bucharest held its PechaKucha Night Vol. 7 last month, and as organizer Irina Ionica tells us, "presentations were simply great, of a really high level." You'll find the full list of presenters with links on the event page, and there are more photos in this Facebook gallery. More...

PKN Bucharest Vol. 2

PechaKucha Night in Bucharest Vol. 2 was held recently, and with an audience of over 200 and some 16 presentations, it was a night to remember. We especially love this bit from an email we received from organizer Irina Ionica: "It’s amazing how we were able to organize such an event, with so little resources after all, just with a good idea and huge enthusiasm." Words we love to hear, and that's in part what we believe is key to the success of PKNs worldwide. We include in this post a few photos from the evening, sent to us by Irina.
