PRESS RELEASE FOR EVENT Wednesday, April 18 and Thursday, April 19 at the Ellen Theatre

Confessions of an ex-mayor, and two very different takes on life and near death in the Himalayas will be featured at the next PechaKucha Night set for Wednesday, April 18 and Thursday, April 19 at the Ellen Theatre.

Carson Taylor, who stepped down as mayor of Bozeman in January after two very eventful years, will recall the highs, lows and unexpected humorous moments of being mayor of the world’s greatest small city.

Pete Kamman will tell the story of his recent participation in the world’s highest hockey game played at 14,400 feet in the extremely remote region of Ladakh, India. And  Steele Kelly, an Afghanistan war veteran, will describe how he nearly lost and then dramatically reclaimed his life while climbing Imja Tse in Nepal.

Additional presentations include Brenda Papera on the special joys and beauty of her life in Antartica, Ron Pulcini on the overlooked role of conscientious objectors who served in non-military roles during the Vietnam War, Stephanie Adams on the work to restore Yellowstone’s pronghorn, and Rachel Kinsey on teaching the invisible disability.

Also presenting are Robert Petrone on “Trekking Africa for Literacy,” Bill Eickman on “Why We Love My Vasectomy,” Paul Gomez on “Clowns without Borders” and the power of laughter, and Tawnya Healy on the “Lifecycle of a Glass Bottle in the Yellowstone Ecosystem.”
