Sean Faircloth goes away from his usually detailed work of writing legislation and organizing causes to talking about ideals such as yugen, or experienceing a deeper feeling beyound words, that inspire him. He does this by talking about the controversal relationship of religion and science and politics. He poetically and with great passion describes the distinction between religious and scientific mentalities as to give greater insight on both sides.

The story of European secularism

Mueid Al Raee is interested in the connection of philosophy and religion. He talks about the influences that shaped Spinoza’s work on philosophy, religion, and understanding the nature of God.

Mueid presents Averroes as an important character in the story of secularism. Averroes is often referred to as the father of European Secularism. Mueid argues that religion played an important role in the formulation of the philosophy of secularism as we know it today in Europe.

His message is that we should challenge the ideas that consider secularism and religion as opposites.

Strong language and ideas are plentiful in Michael Willis's presentation brough on by his strong beliefs as a child and formal indoctrination and education in his Christian faith.  After completing seminary Michael had a wake-up call that flipped his views dramatically in a way that challenges many of the loudest voices in modern American politics.  As Michael starts by saying "I'm talking about an idea…hopefully we can all learn something".
