The barriers that stop people talking about money, the stigmas and judgements, are things that Charlotte is helping to get rid of. Born in Wigan, Lancashire, John Kinsley moved to Scotland in 1995 to develop sustainable design at RMJM Architects. After ten years designing and building the Scottish Parliament, he set up John Kinsley Architects in 2016. In 2018 we were awarded Practice of the Year at the Scottish Design Awards. Our collective custom built tenement project in Portobello, which he will be talking about today, has generated considerable interest since its completion last year, winning several awards including an RIAS Award and the Saltire Housing Innovation Award, and featuring on BBC’s Reporting Scotland.
