Rethinking Video Games, Slovakia's zerozero Studio, and a First PKN in Fort Lauderdale
Presentations The title of writer and academic Colin Harvey's presentation (from PKN Blue Mountains Vol. 1) pretty much says it all: "Everything You Know About Video Games Is Wrong." Colin goes through the history of video games -- from Pong all the way to current dog raising simulations -- and reveals a lot of unlikely truths. Irakli Eristavi and Pavol Šilla are members of zerozero, one of the most progressive architect studios in Slovakia, and in this presentation (in Slovak, from PKN Kosice Vol. 1) they highlight some of their work. Posters We have one new poster on the Tumblr blog today, for the upcoming PKN Buenos Aires Vol. 25. Pictured above is a poster we uploaded a few days ago for PKN Warsaw Vol. 11, designed by Gosia Herba, who was a presenter at the city's Vol. 10. We shared the poster for last night's PKN San Diego Vol. 15 a while back, but here's a look at one of the intro slides used for the event, that follows the "heart" them. Photos and links The photo above is from the recent PKN Fort Lauderdale Vol. 1, and there's more to see in this Flickr photoset. Organizer Marta Viciedo has also sent us a few press links, with her series getting coverage in both the Sun Sentinel and the Examiner. With the PKN series in Bangkok about to relaunch, here's an interview with that city's new organizer, Scott Coates. The first event of the relaunch, Vol. 5, is set for July 9. Calendar Tonight's (June 20) events are made up of PKN Risor Vol. 2, PKN Glasgow Vol. 8, and PKN Brighton Vol. 15. Tomorrow it's a huge night for PKNs, with 9 events on tap: PKN Hilversum Vol. 2, PKN Norwich Vol. 4, PKN Raleigh Vol. 11, PKN Pittsburgh Vol. 12, PKN Bemidji Vol. 13, PKN Vancouver Vol. 22, PKN Rotherham Vol. 1, PKN Winnipeg Vol. 10, and PKN Bilbao Vol. 12.
