For this week's City Focus, we're taking you to the City of Temples. In the foothills of the Himalayas lies the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. As it used to be the royal capital, Kathmandu hosts palaces, mansions, gardens of the former Nepalese aristocracy, and seven World Heritage sites. No wonder it is considered to be the center of Nepal's history, art, culture and economyーA perfect place to hold PechaKucha Night, wouldn't you say? Speaking of which, you can catch their PechaKucha Night Kathmandu Vol. 16 on June 25th at Attic.

In 2015, Nepal suffered a catastrophic earthquake. Despite the disaster, the Nepalese people rose above. PechaKucha Night Kathmandu decided to represent their strength in one of their event posters to celebrate creativity in the face of destruction.

Seriously, you guys inspire us. We wish you all the best next week!

PechaKucha Night Karachi races to first place for this week's PechaKucha Poster Spotlight. With its wild color sceme and striking young man riding a motorbike, this poster is basically the definition of cool. You can thank the talented Sana Nasir for that. And if you want to meet the coolest people in Karachi, be sure to check out the very first PechaKucha Night event ever to be hosted in that city, held on June 21st at the Hive.

Stay cool Karachi and remember, don't text and drive!

Just off the coast of Sweden, this week's City Focus lies on the island of Gotland. Welcome to Visby! This city is arguably the most well-preserved medieval city in Scandinavia with its famous town wall and many church ruins. This UNESCO World Heritage site draws in many visitors every year, and one of its most notable tourists was Hayao Miyuzaki who used Visby as one of the main visual inspirations for the movie Kiki's Delivery Service. The island is only accessible through boat and air traffic, so is it worth it to go? YOU BET! And if you're visiting Visby in the near future, you might be able to catch their very first PechaKucha Night on June 12th at Joda Bar.

We can't wait to see what they've got! Good luck, everyone!

Go big or go home! This week's PechaKucha Poster Spotlight features graphic art at it's finest. PechaKucha Night Stirling takes the win with their friendly giants poster, created by David Galletly, who takes on another PechaKucha poster using his familiar theme of titans. We LOVE it!

If you're looking for a night of creative giants sharing their passions, great local beer, and a good time, look no further than PechaKucha Stirling's Vol. 6 event which will be held on June 20th, at CodeBase Stirling.

Looking for more inspiration? Check out David's other PechaKucha poster or our Instagram and Tumblr for more posters from other great artists.

Set along the lagoon called Ria de Aveiro is the Portugal city of canals, Aveiro. This week's City Focus boasts a beautiful city of art nouveau buildings, it's own catherdral, and even a network of canals that colorful barcos moliceiros travel down. Aveiro is also famous for its traditional sweets: a delicacy made from egg yolks called Ovos Moles de Aveiro that comes in a variety of nautical shapes. But if you're looking for more of an intellectual treat, there will be a variety of presentations at PechaKucha Night Aveiro Vol. 3 next week at the Hairtz hair salon. Hope to see everyone there!

Boa sorte, Aveiro!

PechaKucha Night Palma de Mallorca is cradling the award for this week's PechaKucha Poster Spotlight. This poster captures an absolutely beautiful piece of street art of a mother tenderly holding a baby. And just like a mother caring for her newborn child, PKN Palma de Mallocra is caring for a baby of its own as they are ready to host their very first PechaKucha event! We know that Palma de Mallocra is prepared for this brand new generation of creativity and we're so excited to see what kind of presentations will be birthed from this event!

PechaKucha Night Chicago organizer and star architect Peter Exley graces this week's very special edition of PechaKucha People. Peter has been a proud supporter of PechaKucha since it’s inception and this month, Chicago celebrates its 50th event!! As he is running for the Presidency of the American Institute of Architects in 2021, we can think of no one better to lead the architectural profession with purpose, passion, fun and wicked fashion sense. If you are at the AIA National Convention - VOTE PETER!

Hailing from PechaKucha Night Santander, for this weeks PechaKucha People we'd love to introduce you to the ever curious and creative Jónatan Piedra. Born in the fantastic 20th century, Jónatan has always been curious about everyday things, such as the origin of the universe. He has been studying and researching the field of physics for years and believes that it is own choice, but also his duty, to teach and talk about physics to others, whether they be other physicists, children in schools, or grown-ups in a theater at a PechaKucha Night. In fact, you can catch him this week at PechaKucha Night Santander Vol. 9 on May 24th. If you're just as curious as he is about physics, make sure you don't miss out on this great event this Friday! Thanks for everything you do, Jónatan, and we can't wait to see what else you've got!

PechaKucha Night Viña del Mar flew into first place to win this week's PechaKucha Poster Spotlight! Truly embracing the inventor's imaginary spirit, this poster is a graphic design masterpiece. This "Ideas and Projects" poster shows an antique graphic of an inventor with his self-made, flying machine. As he flies through the sky, there is a wonderful mixture of vintage and modern design. This montage poster spotlights Viña del Mar's 2nd event, where next week many will land in for a good night!

For this week's City Focus, we're taking you across the Mediterranean to Europe's southernmost capital, Valletta! As a UNESCO World Heritage site, the capital city of the island nation of Malta is home to some of the best gardens, palaces, and churches in the world. With a wonderful mixture of Baroque, Mannerist, Neo-Classical, and Modern architecture, Valletta is the perfect place to hold a wonderful mixture of stories and people. Just like its nickname Superbissima – Italian for "Most Proud" – Valletta is most proud to host PechaKucha Night Vol. 11 on May 23rd.

Ix-xorti t-tajba!
